Life on the Row

It's March....and I am still patiently (ok, rather impatiently) waiting for the weather to get warm. But in this last cold month, there have been some cool things happening!

I got to be involved in CRS week- CRS stands for Country Radio Seminar. This is a big week for country artists, because it is when they basically convince the radio people to keep playing their songs, or start playing their new songs. So, each artist or record label has a party and Starstruck was the busiest I have ever seen it! Luckily, I got to attend Kelly Clarkson's party and watch her perform a new song, which was amazing.

Through only a stroke of God's hand, I had the privilege of helping pass out the awards at the SESAC Christian Music Awards. For songwriters, there are 3 performing rights organizations that keep track of how many times your song has been played on the radio, on tv, etc. The companies are BMI, ASCAP, and SESAC. SESAC was recognizing their Christian songwriters who have had the most spins of their song throughout the year. Some notable SESAC members include: Mark Shultz, Chris Tomlin, Jason Ingram, and Mikeschair. It was cool to see how the songwriters supported each other, and even gave pep talks during their sets about how important and life changing Christian music can be.

I also found myself in the middle of some song-plugging. A friend wrote a song with John Paul White from the Civil Wars and thought it would be a great fit for Kelly. So, they sent it to me to see if I could get it to her. Well, Kelly loved the song and immediately put it on hold. Now, putting it on "hold" means that she doesn't want other artists singing the song and she's very interested, but it doesn't mean that anything is final or that it will be on her record. Regardless of the outcome, it is very exciting news for my first try at a song pitch. :)

And then yesterday I found myself on The Identical movie trailer!

the trailer is at theidenticalmovie.com

Although blogging is mainly for my family, it's nice to look back and see what God is doing every month. Sometimes I get down on myself and feel like nothing is moving forward, but that is when I have a narrow point of view. When you step back and see the big picture, you can't help but feel thankful and blessed.
